The Georgia College & State University Soccer Team (0-1-1) tied their season opener on the road at Florida Southern College on Friday night.

They then traveled to Saint Leo University Sunday and took a 2-1 loss.

The Friday game against FSC was a defensive game for the Bobcats as they took on a very strong Mocs offense.

Florida Southern was able to get off 17 shots but the Bobcat defense did a nice job of putting pressure on the forwards to only allow seven shots to be on goal. The senior goalkeeper Kate Richardson hailing from Marietta, Georgia was the star of the game as she made seven saves to kick off her senior campaign.

On the offense side of things, junior midfielder Taylor Salvaggio from Bethlehem, Georgia had the lone shot of the match for GCSU.

The Sunday matchup was against SLU for the second and final game of the opening weekend. The Bobcats were able to get more offense going in this game as six shots were taken. The sophomore forward Amanda Dewey hailing from Johns Creek, Georgia led the offense with the lone goal of the contest for GCSU.

Dewey was inside the 18-yard box and got the cross from classmate Morgan Amrozowicz from Dacula, Georgia for the goal in the second half of play. Richardson patrolled the goal for the Bobcats again as she quickly brought her season save total to 10 in only the second game of the season.

She nabbed three saves in the final game of the weekend. Other than Richardson Katherine Crouse from Southington, Connecticut was the only other player to play all 90 minutes. Aside from Dewey, she had the other shot on goal to bring the total to three.
