Georgia softball nabs four All-SEC honors

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The UGA softball team (40-16, 12-12 SEC) ties the 2018 record high for All-SEC Honors with four.

Sarah Mosley, Jada Kearney and Lacey Fincher were all named to the All-SEC first team. Sydney Kuma was named to the All-SEC Second Team.

Mosley led the team with a .430 season batting average with 17 home runs. She knocked in 52 runs through the course of 52 games started, while also leading the squad in doubles. After entering conference play, her batting average went up to a whopping .470 with 31 hits in 66 at-bats. 10 of her 31 hits were multi-base hits, seven of which were round trippers. Kearney had the second-highest

Kearney had the second-highest batting average on the team at .372. Over the course of the season, she hit 15 home runs and totaled 15 RBIs, which led the team. Eight of her home runs and 24 RBIs came in conference play, with 24 RBIs. She secured a .329 batting average. With her 15 home runs, she had 23 multibase hits, including seven doubles.

Lacey Fincher was the final Bulldog named to the All-SEC First team. Fincher had the second most round-trippers on the season with 16, and she also had 46 RBIs. She also nabbed eight more multi-base knocks including two triples. Fincher’s batting average skyrocketed after entering SEC play, increasing to a .362 with nine home runs and 22 RBIs.

Sydney Kuma was the fourth Bulldog given an All-SEC honor as she was named to the second team. Kuma hit .353 through the season with 12 homers and 39 RBIs. She also showed off her wheels tying the team lead with 11 steals. Kuma nabbed a .324 batting average after entering conference play, also securing six home runs with 16 RBIs.

The previous time the Dawgs had this many players receive All-SEC honors was in 2018. Now assistant coach Alyssa DiCarlo was named to the All-SEC First Team hitting .369. Former Dawgs Brittany Gray and Cortni Emanuel were both named to the First Team as well with Justice Milz being named to the Second Team. Gray had a .48 ERA with 134 strikeouts and a 16-1 record in the circle. Emanuel hit .443 that season, earning her fourth All-SEC honor. Milz was the lone Dawg named to the second team with a .364 batting average with a .434 on-base percentage. That same year, former Head Coach Lu Harris-Champer was tabbed as SEC Coach of the Year.
