Woman arrested for smoking marijuana On April 25, law enforcement conducted a traffic stop on a gray Toyota Rav4 on State Route Highway 22 near the intersection of Roberson Mill Road. The driver, Brittany Garnto, was stopped for failure to maintain lane.

BCSD ‘Grow Your Own’ signs partnership

In January the Baldwin County School District (BCSD) launched its 'Grow Your Own' Teacher Program and as of April 15, BCSD signed its fourth college partnership agreement for the program. The program is developed in collaboration with post-secondary institutions in the middle Georgia region and aims to create a teacher pipeline through early exposure to the teaching profession.

GC Miracle raises funds for Children’s Hospital

GC Miracle, the largest student organization on the Georgia College campus, held its annual ThunderThon event April 7. Approximately 300 people attended the event, and GC Miracle raised $70,550 for the Beverly Knight Olson Children’s Hospital in Macon.

When Carolyn Douglas first moved to Milledgeville in 2019, she had no idea she would find the place that could possibly be her forever home. “I really didn’t know much about Milledgeville, and then I got on the Georgia College campus and immediately started seeing myself here,” she said.

City council hears requests for budget increases

The Milledgeville City Council met April 23 and discussed the final budget proposals from Main Street, the building department and public works. The meeting opened with Mayor Pro Tempore Denese Shinholster explaining that Mayor Mary Parham-Copelan was virtually sitting in on this meeting.
